I was going to start working on my list January 1st, but give myself until the end of January to edit the list. I really wanted to start at the beginning of the year because I thought that would be easier to keep track of. However, I think I am going to consider today as my start date. I haven’t really had time to work on my goals and with some of the goals I rewrote it will just be easier this way. It kind of sucks because I am going to lose the little progress I did make, but on the other hand there are one or two goals that I would have already failed so I guess it evens out. So without further ado here is my new and improved 101 in 1001 list: ( The List )

Here is my list as promised. As I mentioned before I may edit throughout the month and I will probably categorize it too.
The Mission: Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days.
The Criteria: Tasks must be specific (ie. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (ie. represent some amount of work on my part). Why 1001 Days? Many people have created lists in the past - frequently simple goals such as New Year's resolutions. The key to beating procrastination is to set a deadline that is realistic. 1001 Days (about 2.75 years) is a better period of time than a year, because it allows you several seasons to complete the tasks, which is better for organising and timing some tasks such as overseas trips or outdoor activities.

Start Date: January 1st, 2010
End Date: September 28th, 2012

For every goal that I do not complete I will donate $2 dollars to Focus on the Family, the republican party, or some other organization I loathe as punishment.
I reserve the right to change these goals at any time as long as I am changing to a goal that is just as challenging or more challenging or from a vague goal to a more specific goal.

This year I am going to undertake the 101 in 1001 challenge. The challenge involves creating a list of 101 goals and then completing them in 1001 days. I actually started the challenge last year, but I decided that I wanted to start over. I didn’t decide to restart because I was failing, in fact I was actually doing pretty well and I am fairly confident that I could have achieved them if I had kept working on them. You may be wondering why I would decide to restart if I was really doing so well. There are several reasons. The main reason I decided to restart is because I’ve decided to wait on some of my goals. Although they are still important to me I’ve decided that there are other things that I want to focus on right now. Perhaps when I am done with these 1001 days I will put them on my next list. The other reason that I decided to start over is that I wanted to keep a record of my progress here on LiveJournal. I think sharing my progress with the world will help keep me motivated. The fact that I will have to report failures here will make me even more determined not to fail.
I am done with my list, but I am not 100% satisfied with it so I have decided to give myself until the end of January to edit. Until then I can change it as much as I want. After that I am going to stick to my rule that I can only change one goal to a goal that is equally challenging or more challenging and that I can change vague goal to a more specific goal. I will create a separate post for my list.
I am planning on primarily writing about my progress and experiences with 101 in 1001 along with tips for working on the challenge. I will probably also occasionally write about other things. I was going to create a separate blog to write about 101 in 1001 and just write about my life and things that interest me here. I decided that most of the interesting things I’ll have to write about will probably be related to my list and that I wouldn’t have enough other things to write about. So I will write about both here. I’ll use tags to mark posts related to 101 in 1001 if that is all you are interested in reading.
